Two things above everything else: exfoliate and moisturize. Not exfoliating is the number one reason people deal with ingrowns, bumps, and uneven texture between appointments. Dry skin traps hairs under the surface. Soft, hydrated skin lets them grow out the way they're supposed to. Every 4 to 6 weeks is ideal. That's when the hair is long enough to wax properly and short enough that we're catching it before it gets unruly. The more consistent you are the better your results get over time. Regular waxing weakens the follicle, so hair grows back finer, softer, and sparser. Skip appointments regularly and we're basically starting over every time.

Nervousness is completely normal and I get it every time a first timer comes in. Here's what's actually going to happen: I'll cleanse and prep the area, apply Mermaid Wax in sections, and remove it cleanly. I apply pressure immediately after every pull to help with the sting. If you need a second, just say so and I'll pause. The whole thing is more manageable than most people expect going in. The first one is the hardest. By your second and third appointment you'll wonder what you were so worried about.

Prep tip: Take Tylenol 30 minutes before your appointment, skip caffeine and alcohol, and make sure your hair is at least a quarter inch long. It makes a real difference.
